About Emily

Therapist turned entrepreneur- Emily Yáñez is a first generation Mexican-American, native Los Angeleno, queen of sarcasm and mother of two.

Emily attended Loyola Marymount University and received her BA in Chicana/o Studies + Fine Art Photography in 2004. After working at a residential home for pregnant and parenting teen girls post graduation, she knew with full confidence that she needed to further pursue a career in the mental health field - she had found her calling!

Emily went on to receive her Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Child Therapy with a specialization in Latinx Families from Pacific Oaks College in 2010. She worked for over a decade in non-profit mental health; specializing in the treatment of foster and probation youth as they aged out of the system.

After giving birth to her first child in 2013, Emily knew something needed to change. She would not be the mother she needed to be if she continued doing crisis based mental health work. The way things were- her phone and productivity dictated her day and the thought of being constantly pulled away from her baby didn’t align with the kind of future she wanted for herself or her family.

It became blatantly clear that a pivot in her career was needed in order to center her family first. Thus enter the world of coaching! This “work from home” business allowed her the freedom to create incredible income and continue to help people while simultaneously giving herself the time freedom to be the mother she had always dreamed of being.

After 10 years of strictly health coaching, the itch to assist people in mental health again called Emily back to the world of psychotherapy. Today she provides therapy, life coaching AND health coaching to those in need of assistance in all areas of wellness.
